Where to Celebrate Earth Day in Orlando
If you’ll be in Orlando during Earth Day, you may be wondering how you can celebrate. Fortunately, there is an Earth Day bash planned for Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the east side of Lake Eola. This smoke-free, alcohol-free event is presented by the Vegetarians of Central Florida and is a fun tradition for Central Florida families.
What you can expect
The Central Florida Earth Day takes place from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and has no admission cost. In an effort to be as eco-friendly as possible on Earth Day and every day, the celebration is a vegan event. Details on this year’s festival have not yet been released but based on previous years, we expect entertainment will be plentiful and varied. In the past, the festival has included:
Live Performances
Local musicians and dancers will introduce you to a variety of dance and music styles. In past years, performers have transfixed the audience with everything from Afro-Cuban music and dance to classical ballet.
Nature Walks
Swans, ducks, egrets, and many other birds call Lake Eola home. An expert from the Audubon Society will lead a short, 20 minute nature walks along the Lake Eola shoreline to introduce you to these and many other fascinating Central Florida birds.
Puppet Parade
IBEX Puppetry is a frequent sponsor of the Earth Day event and hosts interactive workshops for guests. You and your family will enjoy hands-on fun as you build your own puppets inspired by endangered animals in Florida. Then let them perform in the parade.
Yoga Classes
Yoga is frequently offered throughout the day with classes and demos, so bring your mat. Regardless of your skill level, you’ll leave feeling balanced and refreshed.
Delicious Vegan Food
Local vegan eateries will have food booths at the festival where you can purchase their delectable creations. Central Florida favorites such as Dandelion Communitea Café, Dixie Dharma, The Sanctum, and many more will offer vegan food, drinks, and tasty treats.
Pets are Welcome
Don’t forget to bring your pup! Dogs are always welcome at Lake Eola. The Central Florida Earth Day festival is proud to extend an invitation to your furry friends. Remember to bring water, leashes, and any other accessories your pet might need for a day of fun in the sun.
