On March 2, the Orlando City Soccer Club opened their Orlando Health-sponsored 2019 campaign at home with a tie against New York City FC. The regular season runs until October 6 and there are sure to be many exciting matches along the way. While the fate of Orlando City’s season is yet to be determined, the Lions’ home stadium will host of the 2019 MLS All-Star Game this summer.

An All-Star Event

Last year the MLS All-Star Game was held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and drew in a record crowd of 72,000. The City Beautiful hopes to attract its own record attendance on Wednesday, July 31 as Orlando City Stadium hosts one of the league’s marquee events. And, the MLS All-Star game is unique: instead of the best players lining up against each other to play, they will join forces to take on a major European powerhouse. This time, their opponents will be Atletico Madrid, one of the top teams in Spain.

A Welcomed Return

The 2019 MLS All-Star Game marks the second time the event has been held in Orlando. The Citrus Bowl (now Camping World Stadium) hosted the event in 1998, which uniquely pitted MLS USA All-Stars against MLS World All-Stars. In recent years, MLS All-Star opponents have included such iconic international clubs as Juventus (2018), Real Madrid (2017), Arsenal (2016), and Bayern Munich (2014).

Orlando City Summer Schedule

The MLS All-Star Game follows a summer schedule for the Lions that includes matches against rival opponents at the following locations, dates, and times (EDT):

• Wednesday, July 3 – Philadelphia Union, Orlando City Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, July 6 – Philadelphia Union, Talen Energy Stadium at TBD
• Saturday, July 13 – Columbus Crew SC, Orlando City Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, July 18 – Portland Timbers FC, Providence Park at 10 p.m.
• Sunday, July 21 – New York Red Bulls, Orlando City Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, July 27 – New England Revolution, Gillette Stadium at 8 p.m.
